Laura Davies, DDS
Skilled family, cosmetic, and general dentist Laura Davies, DDS, joined Fibonacci Dental Studio, in July 2012, moving from Missouri to Rapid City, South Dakota. Dr. Davies has family in the area and was excited to find a practice opportunity in an area that she has grown to love.
Dr. Davies is originally from Freeland, Michigan. She graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2002 with a B.S. in chemical engineering. She worked as an operations supervisor and chemical sales representative for PPG Industries, Inc. in Lake Charles, Louisiana; Natrium, West Virginia; and Kansas City, Missouri, during which time she completed her Master of Business Administration at the Henry W. Bloch School of Management at University of Missouri – Kansas City. Dr. Davies attended University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry, graduating in 2012. While there, she received the Dr. John Killip Student Leadership Award, as well as the Periodontal Prosthodontic Award. She has worked in dentistry since 2008. It is important to Dr. Davies that she be able to provide her patients with the best treatment options and care. Therefore, Dr. Davies participates in two local study clubs and attends continuing education courses regularly to stay current with research on the latest dental technology and treatments. Dr. Davies chose to become a dentist because she enjoys getting to know her patients, helping to improve oral health, and the reward of seeing a patient's smile after treatment has been completed.
Dr. Davies is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, South Dakota Dental Association, and the Black Hills District Dental Society. She has served as a voting member of the Black Hills District Dental Society since 2014 and is currently the president-elect. She continues to advance her knowledge of the ever-evolving dental field by participation in the SPEAR dental education curriculum with local study clubs, online classes, and onsite learning opportunities. She has started the Kois Center curriculum, and is a Mentor Dentist for CDOCS Comprehensive Dental Curriculum. While in Kansas City, Dr. Davies participated in many dental outreach programs providing oral health education and treatment to members of the Kansas City community and surrounding regions. She especially enjoyed the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals TeamSmile events. In South Dakota, Dr. Davies continues to volunteer and participate in dental outreach both locally and on a state level. She participates with Donated Dental Services, has worked on the Delta Dental Mobile Dental Program, donated her services to Freedom’s Journey, and works with clients through the Black Hills Works Program.
When she is not working, Dr. Davies stays very busy with her family participating in school and extracurricular activities. As a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, she serves as a middle school confirmation mentor and teaches elementary classes on Wednesday nights. In her limited spare time she enjoys reading, knitting, hiking, running, tennis, photography, and training her dogs in agility.
Dr. Davies is proud to serve the western South Dakota community through her work at Fibonacci Dental Studio.
